The good news is that after a month of process-driven delays, school resource officers will be back in Mankato schools. In the spirit of education and constructive criticism on decision-making, we think this could have been handled in a way that better served the students and the community. While we can appreciate a good legal argument from time to time and the back and forth of debating public policy, we are troubled by the various players spending a lot of time figuring out the minute chances of legal liability with the new SRO law while leaving large gaps in serving the students.
